– Laser Hair Removal Pre & Post Care –
Pre-Care Guidelines
30 Days Before Your Treatment:
- For laser hair removal to work, there needs to be a hair follicle present! Refrain from waxing, threading, or undergoing electrolysis in the designated treatment area.
- Avoid using depilatory creams or bleach on the treatment area.
10 Days Before Your Treatment:
- Avoid sun exposure and sunbeds, as they can increase skin sensitivity. If you are sunburnt, unfortunately, you will need to postpone your treatment.
7 Days Before Your Treatment:
- Stop using fake tan and ensure complete removal of any fake tan from the treatment area.
24 Hours Before Your Treatment:
- Completely shave the treatment area, the shorter the shave, the better the results.
- Avoid applying any products to the treated areas; keep it dry and clean (no deodorant, makeup, creams, etc.)
- Try to avoid caffeine and alcohol – this will allow a more comfortable treatment.
On the day of your appointment:
- Wear loose and comfy clothing to your appointment so that you can easily expose the areas to be treated and feel comfortable after the session.
- Drink plenty of water to stay hydrated.
Post-Care Guidelines
Immediately after the treatment, the area may show redness and some swelling around the follicles which looks similar to large goose bumps. Temporary side effects may include redness and itchy skin or it may feel like a razor burn or sunburn for a few hours after, which is completely normal. These symptoms may appear immediately or a few days after the treatment.
For the Next 48 Hours:
- Avoid all heat treatments such as steam rooms, saunas, hot baths, hot showers, and excessive exercise.
- Refrain from sunbathing or using sunbeds on the treated area.
- Avoid applying perfumed creams, soaps, and lotions to the treated area.
- Avoid shaving the area as this could cause further irritation.
- Use 100% Aloe Vera gel directly after treatment and for a few days if necessary.
- Apply an ice-cold compress if the area feels hot or uncomfortable.
NOTE: If the treated area remains sensitive, continue following the above aftercare instructions for the next week. Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any concerns.
For the Following 4 Weeks:
- Do not pluck or wax any hair on the area that was treated. This can disrupt the treatment process and stimulate the hair follicle, leading to potential regrowth.
- Apply a high SPF 50+ sunscreen when outdoors to protect the area from excessive sun exposure, which can cause hypo- or hyperpigmentation.
